Bridgeway Sober Living features Austin sober living houses for men and women who need a safe and clean place to stay following the completion of drug and alcohol rehab. Our homes are secure and are located in safe communities where crime rates are low. We want everyone who stays in our sober living houses to succeed, which means staying clean from drugs and alcohol. Let us briefly talk about how it works.
How Sober Living Houses Work
When a person contacts Bridgeway Sober Living, it is usually done while they are still in residential inpatient rehab. This is the best way because it allows us to work with both the resident and the resident's addiction care team so that we can accommodate the resident's treatment plan as well as possible. Aftercare may include therapy, outpatient treatment, and more.
Why Sober Living?
Our Austin sober living houses are ideal for people who are coming out of inpatient rehab and need to maintain some of the structure that has helped them to get clean in the first place. While going to rehab is highly commendable, it's only the first step in the journey of recovery, and most people would readily agree that getting clean from drugs and alcohol is futile if you are not going to stay clean!
Upon completing drug and alcohol rehab, most people are sent home, back to the environment in which they had to be pulled out of and separated from for 30 to 90 days just to get clean and sober. Now, the person is going to go back to the same environment that he or she left, and this is one of the main reasons why the relapse rate of rehab graduates is so abhorrently abysmal across the United States!
Rather than going back to the same environment that enables or otherwise contributes to the person's addiction, self-destruction, and other bad habits - much like a dog returning to eat its own vomit - it would be better for the person to maintain some of the structure, support, and accountability that helped them to get clean while they were in rehab. That's the idea of Austin sober living homes.
Do Sober Living Homes Really Help People?
Research shows, as well as our own data does, that people do better when they come out of rehab and go into a sober living home rather than going back to wherever they came from. Rehab completely cuts people off from the world and protects them from every trigger, urge, and danger. Sober living houses help people integrate back into society and maintain the systems that they need to stay strong and have a real chance of not just getting sober but also staying sober.
When a person comes to Bridgeway Sober Living, they will be in the company of other people who are fighting their demons too. Residents at Bridgeway have 24/7/365 access to addiction specialists, many of whom are longtime recovering addicts themselves. We run our Austin sober living houses because we are passionate about what we do, and we want to make a positive impact on the lives of those whom we come in contact with.
